Capsular Tension Rings (CTRs) have contributed significantly to improved safety and better outcomes in eyes with compromised zonules and consequently are now in more widespread use. They are easy to understand in principle but in practice there are many pitfalls and some unique complications that are associated with their use. This is especially true for the inexperienced surgeon and occasional user. This course covers the different types of CTR's (plain, sutured, segments) and their pre-planned ("cold") and unplanned ("hot") use. It offers some very practical tips and tricks for their reliable and safe insertion and also demonstrates how things can go wrong, how to avoid these problems and what to do when they happen.
