The objective of the study was to audit the perioperative management of anticoagulated patients having cataract surgery to ascertain whether the RCOphth guidelines were being followed. The specific objectives were to ascertain the number of consultants discontinuing warfarin preoperatively, the incidence of complications associated with warfarin use, the incidence of complications resulting from discontinuing warfarin, and whether the anesthetic technique was routinely altered in anticoagulated patients.
